Uruguay

Uruguay is a nation of over three million maté lovers, meat-eaters, winegrowers, cheese makers, and artists. However, what makes Uruguay so irresistible is its low key vibe.

The cosmopolitan capital of Montevideo sits on the shores of the brackish Río de la Plata with a deliciously chill pace. Just outside the city, in the rolling hills, are many family-run wineries making hearty red wines like Tannat. Punta del Este, the glitzy “riviera” lies to the east, and further out the sparkling Atlantic and beach village of José Ignacio, a hub for dining, wining, and relaxing with its endless beaches and dunes. Colonia, to the west and across the River Plate from Buenos Aires, is steeped in colonial history and heaven for cheese and vintage car lovers.

The Uruguayan relaxed approach to life infuses everything they do. Immersing yourself in its culture is an invitation to slow down, to live in harmony with the campo, countryside, and savor those small, daily pleasures of life.
