Northeast of Punta del Este in the chic village of José Ignacio, the coastline is studded with golden-sand beaches, wind-blown dunes, and crystalline waters. On Playa Mansa in the middle of the hip, casual town, the Viks decided to build this destination hotel with the help of famed local architect, Carlos Ott.
Step into the world of Vik where the rooms are housed in bunker-like villas constructed from untreated cement with gardens planted on the roof. Here the single-level beach cabañas are tastefully decorated with hammocks, rustic yet modern furniture, and sisal rugs.
In the center of the property is the space-age pavilion known as the Sculpture. The infinity pool melds into the southern Atlantic and the jaw-dropping vistas of the Uruguayan coastline extend for miles. It’s the perfect spot for contemplating life, drinking clericó (local sangria), napping, reading, swimming, or dining under the stars. If you feel the need to leave the compound, the cool town of José Ignacio is just out the front gate.
